Married men live longer than unmarried men, it is a fact that has been reported over and over again from various studies. Women seem to be able to tell when their husband needs to see a Dr before he knows himself and they make sure he eats sensibly and generally looks after himself.

As we enter into tough financial times in our present economy the pressures that we all face on a regular basis due to financial problems which occur in every family from time to time will increase. America is currently seeing the highest amount of foreclosures since records started being kept and this along with fears of job downsizing causes worry and stress to the best of us.

If your spouse is already the type of person who suffers from some stress related problems then now is the time for you to be watching their behavior closer than ever before. There is nothing that can pile on the stress like a job loss and all the financial woes that follow.

Anxiety attacks can lay in wait for you for years, coming to the fore when you are suddenly put under some sort of extra ordinary pressure. If you are facing a job lay of or are experiencing financial problems then there is a good chance that you could start to experience feelings of anxiety and panic.

If your partner (or you) start showing signs of avoiding social situations, shaking before seeing anyone, fear of things that never bothered them previously and nausea then there is a good chance that they (or you) have anxiety.

There is no shame to having feelings of anxiety and even panic, the only shame is if you know your partner is suffering and you don't do anything to help them deal with it. When you work together you have a much better chance of dealing with the anxiety and the root cause of it earlier and with less pain than if you just ignore it and hope it goes away.

Anxiety attacks can be totally debilitating, they can also ruin the life of not just the person who suffers with them but their spouse as well. Since anxiety affects both of you to some degree, you should both be willing to go and discuss it with experts. You are not the first couple to be in this situation so don't worry about being embarrassed.

When you wonder whether you should just let the anxiety attack take over and force you to pull even further back from your husband or wife, remember all the good and great times that you have had together. Anxiety can be beaten and so can money problems, you just need to decide to fight for the things you hold dear and get professional help.

What to Expect After

As with all other types of liposuction, there will be some bruising, numbness, bleeding, swelling and pain after neck liposuction. You may be taken in only as an outpatient though and will be allowed to go home after a few hours. You may actually have a sore neck for several weeks and you may be required to wear a neck compressor for a few weeks as you recuperate.

Once your neck liposuction is healed, you may notice excess skin and skin sagging. This is especially true among people with poor skin elasticity. The procedure can do nothing to improve poor skin quality and muscle tone. To prevent unsightly sagging from developing, you should discuss with your surgeon the possibility of combining neck liposuction with a neck lift to remove possible excess skin after the procedure. A combination procedure may be more expensive but it can improve the appearance of firmness of your neck.

Talk to your doctor about your honest chances of having an improved neck appearance. If you suspect that your skin is no longer elastic then it may be a better idea to stay away from the procedure altogether.

It's very important to be patient and persistent with yourself and follow your doctor's advice when you already have heart disease. Don't panic and self medicate with alcohol, drugs or even herbal preparations as it can deliver side effects even more lethal than bad diet and heart disease.

Health Insurance Is A Necessity

Think you can live without health insurance? Think Again! Mary Levins was driving home from work one Saturday night when something happened that would change her life forever. As she turned onto another road she was met head-on with an eighteen wheeler - a stolen eighteen wheeler. The collision turned a beautiful convertible to a pile of worthless metal and nearly took Marys life.

Energy Drinks Cause the Jitters

Energy drinks and health in the same sentence? They are usually loaded with caffeine, artificial sweeteners (Aspartame Controversy, Taurine and to make everything seem OK, artificial vitamins. This cocktail is toxic and has already started to cause serious health problems.

More and more people that consume the traditional energy drink regularly or even daily have already or are destined to eventually suffer from stomach, kidney, liver or heart problems. Not to mention the effects these chemical cocktails can have on one's teeth (premature enamel degradation) or skin (dehydration related blotching).

This generation may be more educated and savvy, but they are growing up with an addiction not dissimilar to our parent's caffeine addiction. Unfortunately, this energy drink addiction is much more dangerous. Compound this with hours spent on the web or gaming, instead of getting outdoors exercise and fresh air, and the problem becomes worse. It has increased the incidence of diabetes and other diet-related diseases.

Why are energy drinks worse than coffee? One could say that many more people drink a cup or two or three of coffee every day and have never had any of the health issues associated with Taurine and energy drinks. This is because coffee derives its caffeine from coffee beans.

Just like with any other product found in nature, the caffeine in the coffee beans comes with many by-products which are not easily separated from the pure caffeine elements. natural caffeine comes with fibers and other organic substances which reduce the absorption of the caffeine into the bloodstream.

With these newly concocted energy drinks, the caffeine is produced in sleek factories, usually in Europe or Southeast Asia. This synthetic caffeine is definitely much better than natural caffeine in one regard: it is much more potent. All of the organic substances that come with the coffee or Guarana or tea do not exist with factory produced caffeine. Artificial caffeine is also less expensive to make than natural caffeine, another great thing for the large corporations that make it. Unfortunately for consumers, this highly potent and toxic caffeine is absorbed into our body as soon as it hits the digestive system.

Natural products like the actual coffee from coffee beans, Guarana seeds or tea leaves, are absorbed more gradually by the body. They are also not as concentrated and therefore less toxic than the chemical caffeine in most energy drinks. Here are some advantages of natural caffeine (whether it be in coffee, tea or Guarana). Firstly, the increased mental alertness is longer. Instead of the instant high you get from most energy drinks and then the subsequent downfall, you get a sustained feeling of mental clarity for a few hours and the effect eventually wears off more naturally and gradually.

Advantage #2 has to do with the jitters. Concentrated exposure to potent artificial caffeine tends to over saturate one's nervous system. If overexposure is repeated, nervous system goes haywire. Nature's way of saying: Enough! Hands shake, nervous tics develop; our body shows the same signs as it would under sustained stress and anxiety. Not a good thing.

With natural caffeine or guaranine, the body can more easily flush out the excess quantities and not overtax the nervous system. But even with natural caffeine, one must use moderation. It is best to stick with one regular cup of coffee or tea (not the large Starbucks which is really like 6 coffees) or one 12 oz can of a natural energy drink or unsweetened cold tea.

Some natural energy drinks that I like are GURU Energy Drinks and Syzmo. They are both made with natural caffeine from Guarana and/or coffee. What I like about GURU is that it is entirely natural, has not artificial sweeteners or vitamins. Sysmo is made from good ingredients but is more costly, and is not a usual taste. GURU has a low-calorie drink sweetened with Stevia called (GURU Lite), which is also a favorite of mine (see my post on Benefits of Stevia: (ref: For Dollars (will) Authorize (FDA)). Both of these are available on the respective companies' website and at Whole Foods Markets.

With cold teas; naturally brewed products provide anti-oxidants in addition to the natural caffeine. A brand I like is ITOEN. They have some unsweetened products with a unique taste that grows on you after a while. Teas Teas.

Spray tans have become the number one way for people to keep that year round tanned look. It is the number of cases of skin cancer caused by too much exposure to the sun that has led to this rise in alternative but safer methods. Always stay as still as possible after artificial tanning to allow time for the application to settle down and create an even coating. Consider what you are going to wear once you have applied the fake tan as it tends to stain objects, in particular clothing. The best advice here is to have a change of clothing that is darker than the color of the tan as this way it will not notice. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing.

This is a great warranty for an entry level massage chair. Sanyo also has moved to a national call center which has also improved customer service. We rate the warranty coverage and customer service a 19.

Comfort & Ergonomics: This is an important element, especially for entry level massage chairs. We have tried many entry level chairs that were not comfortable which defeats the purpose of a massage chair. The SR1000K is pretty comfortable to sit in. It has an adjustable head pillow and a plush back pad. The main power button is located on the left side of the chair and can be reached when seated. The leg massager requires you to bend down to flip the foot massage mechanism out. This is the least ergonomic part of the massage recliner. We rate the comfort and ergonomics of the SR 1000 as a 17.

Ease of Use: The advance of electronics is just simply amazing. However with this amazing advance come other challenges. All the new features that are in massage chairs must be learned and the user must figure out how to use them all. This is where the design becomes of paramount importance. The remote for the SR1000 seems to have more steps than needed to obtain the massage you want. We give this massage chair a 16 for this category.

Key Features: One of the interesting things with this model is that it has many technologies handed down from the higher level massage chairs in the Sanyo line. This is great for an entry level massage chair. Take for instance, the stiffness detector. The stiffness detector is found in Sanyo's high end model. This device is gripped with the hand. It monitors your pulse and sweat. It knows (somehow) where these changes are coming from and it actually targets those areas. Another electronic gadget integrated is the shape sensor. The shape sensor checks your body position in the chair and changes the massage to where you are. Interesting stuff, we give it an 18.

Massage Therapy: The SR-1000 comes with automatic and manual massage techniques. The automatic massages are named Recovery and Relax. Relax is a soothing type massage and Recovery is more vigorous for after more strenuous activity. The manual massages come with 3 massage techniques but also have two stretching capabilities. The stretching can be used in combination with the 3 massage techniques. The leg rest is capable to massage both the calves and the feet providing virtually a full body massage capability. The SR1000 earns a 17 for its massage therapy.

The SR-1000 massage chair by Sanyo earns an 87 out of 100 points in our review. The warranty coverage is very good for an entry level model. The massage therapy is done pretty well and is effective. We would like to have seen more automatic programs to enhance the variety of massage treatments. The advanced electronic features are novel, but may have caused some tradeoff in the massages that were designed in to meet the price point. This is a good chair and if you are looking for something in this range, then it is worth considering.

First of all, Aerobic exercise is important for everybody. It's never too late to begin an aerobic exercise program and to experience the often dramatic changes. Those who exercise have much less disability than those who don't because the tissues around their joints become stronger. Occasionally a person does have a heart attack during exercise, the overall chances of a heart attack are greatly decreased by aerobic exercise.

Your choice of a particular aerobic activity depends on your own desires and your present level of fitness. You should be able to grade the activity; you should be able to easily and gradually increase both the effort and the duration of the exercise.

You have to set goals. Set goals for the level of fitness you want to achieve. Preferrably your final goal should be at least one year away, but you may want to develop in between goals for maybe one, three and six months.

Choose a particular time of day for your exercise. Your exercises should be regularly performed for at least five out of seven days of the week. If you decide to exercise all seven days, take it easy one or two days each week. Each exercise period should be reasonably constant in effort.

When you're walking, jogging, or whatever, you can use both distance and time to keep track of your progress. When starting out, make a habit to keep a diary of what you do each day to be sure you're on track of your goal. Get accustomed to the activity first and then begin to push it just a little bit.

Be sure to loosen up with stretching exercises before and after exercise periods, and wear clothing warm enough to keep your muscles from getting cold and cramping. The bottom line is patience and common sense.

Vitamin D and High Blood Pressure " Related or Not?

They let me know personally, how my program has helped and ask follow up questions to help ensure they are as healthy as they can possibly be. Sometimes, the same question comes up and its good to be able to address the answer to many.

Several of you have asked if there is a link between Vitamin D deficiency and hypertension (high blood pressure).

Vitamin D is actually several different vitamins " Vitamin D2 and D3 specifically. Vitamin D3 is produced when a persons skin is exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet light. In fact, sunlight is the easiest way to get the required amount of Vitamin D.

Vitamin D is important because it allows the body to process calcium and phosphorus, providing for strong bones. It is also important in the maintenance of the bodys organs, including the heart.

There have been several studies which have shown that people with Vitamin D deficiency and high blood pressure have a 50% greater chance of suffering a stroke, heart attack or heart failure than those without the vitamin deficiency.

How does a person know they might have a Vitamin D deficiency?

Since symptoms of Vitamin D are often the same symptoms of other diseases (hypertension, flu-like symptoms, periodontal issues, depression, bone diseases), the best and easiest way to check to see if you are Vitamin D deficient is to have your doctor perform a blood test.

Of course, the easiest way to avoid Vitamin D deficiency would be at least 10 minutes of direct sunlight exposure each day. You should, however, consult your doctor first to ensure this will not lead to larger health issues.

Getting a Zimmer Durom Cup Settlement

During 2006 and 2007, 12,000 Americans had hip replacement surgery and had a Zimmer Durom Cup implanted in one or both hips. Since that time, almost 6% of these devices have failed. Patients have complained of a great deal of pain after they should have been completely healed, and doctors have found that their hip implants have become loose or even migrated from where they should be. Because of these problems, patients are facing expenses caused by extra medical costs and a loss of wages. Zimmer has not come out and admitted its liability, but as patients file lawsuits against them, they have been making some settlements.

Although Zimmer has been accused of reacting to the problems too slowly and not accepting the liability for the failed implants as they should, in October, 2008 they did announce that they had set aside a fund of $47.5 million to pay lawsuit claims. They are still adamant that their research showed no defects in the product. Many physicians still aren't convinced. Zimmer took the Durom Cup off of the American market in July, 2008 and then reinstated it the next month along with an online training program which doctors must complete prior to being able to do hip replacements surgeries using the cup again. Half of all the doctors involved declined the offer saying that taking the training would be a waste of their time. Through all of this, everyone has had a lot of stress to deal with, especially the hundreds of patients with defective Durom Cups who are awaiting further surgery.

Because of all these people have suffered, product liability lawyers have taken an interest in their cases. They have been chagrined to see many patients accepting settlements from Zimmer thinking they are fair and adequate payments. In the interest of speedy closures, people are accepting far less money in settlements than what the case is ultimately going to be worth.
